If this is your first trip, the useful choice is not a list of twenty places. It is deciding what kind of day you want. Kamakura is the easier coastal day, with temples and Enoshima. Fuji and Hakone is the bigger landscape day, with more road time and a view of the mountain only when the weather cooperates.

Pick Kamakura when the day itself matters more than the headline
Kamakura is under an hour south of central Tokyo in light traffic. Its advantage is density: the Great Buddha, Hase-dera, Tsurugaoka Hachimangu and lunch around Komachi-dori sit close enough together that you spend more time out of the car. Enoshima then adds the coast, shrines and a possible Fuji view across the water.
This is the safer choice with young children, older relatives or uncertain weather. It is also the better choice if you want history and street-level detail rather than a long scenic drive. Read the full Kamakura day-trip timing guide before deciding how many stops to request.
Pick Fuji and Hakone for scale
The Fuji and Hakone day crosses two sightseeing areas. Our published route begins on the Fuji side at Lake Yamanaka, then moves through Owakudani to Lake Ashi and Hakone Shrine. That shape avoids promising a checklist that cannot fit inside ten hours.
Mount Fuji is weather-dependent. A private vehicle lets the driver change the order, but it cannot create a clear sky. Fuji Fifth Station is included only when the Bókun rate explicitly says it is included. The standard live product does not quietly add it to an already full route.
Why these two made the list
We excluded destinations that Asoko Trip does not currently sell through a working booking route. We also excluded self-drive queries such as “car hire Tokyo,” because hiring a rental car is a different product. These two trips have a defined itinerary, a live Bókun product, a ten-hour duration and a vehicle price shown before payment.
The Japan National Tourism Organization describes Kamakura as an easy full day from Tokyo. Its official Hakone guidance likewise treats the area as a substantial excursion, with Owakudani, Lake Ashi and the open-air museum spread across the mountains. That is why trying to combine every famous stop in both Fuji and Hakone usually makes a poor day.

Common questions
What is the best day trip from Tokyo for a first visit?
Choose Kamakura and Enoshima for temples, the coast and a shorter transfer. Choose Mt. Fuji and Hakone for mountain scenery, Lake Ashi and Owakudani, accepting a longer drive and weather-dependent Fuji views.
Can Mt. Fuji and Hakone fit into one day from Tokyo?
Yes, with an early start and a selective route. Asoko Trip’s live product is a 10-hour private day tour covering Lake Yamanaka, Owakudani, Lake Ashi and Hakone Shrine. Traffic, weather and your pace determine what fits.
Are Tokyo day trips priced per person?
Asoko Trip’s private day tours are sold by vehicle. The live Bókun calendar shows the exact total for the selected date, vehicle and options before checkout.
